How the Free Water Damage Line Works

One free number, answered any hour. An automated assistant asks what happened, then puts you through to an independent, locally owned restoration company that serves your area. Here is every step, and what the line does not do.

The call, step by step

  1. You call (844) 906-3984Any hour, any day. It is a toll-free number, and calling it costs you nothing.
  2. An automated assistant answersIn English or Spanish. It asks briefly what happened: a burst pipe, a flood, a storm or roof leak, an appliance, a sewage backup or mold, and whether water is still coming in.
  3. Safety comes firstIf water may reach outlets, the assistant reminds you to stay out of it, to shut the main water valve if that is safe, and to call 911 if anyone is in danger.
  4. You are transferredThe call goes to an independent, locally owned water damage restoration company that serves your area. Before it picks up, the company hears a short summary of what you said. If you mentioned mold, the call goes to a mold specialist.
  5. If nobody can pick upYour name, callback number, city and the problem are taken and passed to the company so it can call you back.
  6. The company takes it from thereIt inspects, gives you its own price, does the work if you hire it, and is paid by you or your insurer, as you arrange.

What the line does and does not do

The line does

  • Answer 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, in English or Spanish
  • Ask what happened and give basic safety reminders
  • Transfer you to an independent local restoration company, or a mold specialist
  • Pass your details on for a call back if the company cannot answer

The line does not

  • Extract water, dry, remove mold, repair or rebuild anything
  • Quote prices, schedule visits or bill you or your insurer
  • Give insurance, legal or claim advice
  • Rate, rank or vouch for any company

How the line is paid

Dominion Water Damage is a d/b/a of Dominion Digital Group. Callers never pay it. Restoration companies may pay the line a referral fee for calls, and this site says so on every page because you should know it when you decide whom to hire.

The referral fee does not change what you owe the company or what Florida law requires of it. A contractor working under a property insurance claim must still give you a good faith, itemized estimate before you sign a repair agreement, and for policies issued since January 1, 2023 you cannot assign your post-loss benefits to it. Mold work over 10 square feet is done by licensed individuals.

What to have ready when you call

  • Your address or at least your town and nearest cross street
  • Where the water is coming from, and whether it has stopped
  • Which rooms are wet, and roughly how much water
  • Whether it is a house, townhouse or condo, and which floor
  • Anything you have smelled or seen that suggests mold

Safety first

  • If anyone is hurt or in danger, call 911 first.
  • Stay out of standing water that may touch outlets, cords or appliances. Do not try to fix anything electrical.
  • If it is safe to reach, shut off the main water valve to stop a leak.
  • Stay out of floodwater; it can carry sewage and debris.

About this line: Dominion Water Damage is a free phone line, not a restoration company. It answers your call and connects you with an independent local water damage restoration company, which inspects, quotes and does the work, and which you pay directly. Companies may pay a referral fee. You never pay the line. See how the line works.

Common questions

Is it really free to call?

Yes. You never pay the line. If you hire the company you are connected with, you pay that company for its work, directly or through your insurance as you arrange. Companies may pay the line a referral fee.

Who answers the phone?

An automated assistant, 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, in English or Spanish. It asks a few short questions, then transfers the call to a person at an independent restoration company.

What happens if the company does not pick up?

The assistant takes your name, callback number, city and a short description of the problem and passes them to the company so it can call you back. If water is coming in fast, shut off the main valve if you can do so safely while you wait.

Does the line choose who does my repairs?

The line connects you with an independent, locally owned company that serves your area, or a mold specialist for mold. You decide whether to hire it after it inspects and quotes. You are free to get other quotes.

Will the company talk to my insurer for me?

It can send your insurer its photos, readings and estimate. Florida law bars a contractor from interpreting your policy or adjusting your claim unless it is also a licensed public adjuster, so coverage questions go to your insurer. The line does not handle claims.

Ready? It takes one call

Call the free line any hour. Say what happened and whether water is still coming in, and the call is put through to an independent, locally owned restoration company that serves your area. That company looks at the damage and gives you its own price.
