Little Greece, on the water
Tarpon Springs incorporated in 1887, and sponge divers from Greece arrived in 1905. The city has had the highest share of Greek Americans of any US city, and each January 6 divers go into Spring Bayou after a cross at the Epiphany celebration. It counted 25,117 residents in 2020.
Life beside the water comes with the risk of water. During Helene, Pinellas shorelines generally saw levels 4 to 7 feet above the normal high tide line. After Milton, the Anclote River peaked upriver at Elfers, in Pasco County, at 26.57 feet, about a foot short of its record.

About this line: Dominion Water Damage is a free phone line, not a restoration company. It answers your call and connects you with an independent local water damage restoration company, which inspects, quotes and does the work, and which you pay directly. Companies may pay a referral fee. You never pay the line. See how the line works.
