Miramar, a fast-growing Broward city
Miramar incorporated on May 26, 1955, and took its name from the Miramar area of Havana, Cuba. It sits in southern Broward County at about 7 feet above sea level. Its growth came late and fast: 40,663 residents in 1990, 72,739 in 2000, 122,041 in 2010 and 134,721 in 2020, living in 43,826 households averaging just over three people each.
That makes much of Miramar's housing relatively recent, but newer homes leak too, from supply lines, water heaters, AC drain lines and upstairs bathrooms. When it happens, call (844) 906-3984. Dominion Water Damage is a free phone line, not a restoration company; it transfers you to an independent local company that serves Miramar.

Flood tools the city offers
Property lookup
The city's Forerunner portal shows each property's flood zone, base flood elevation, design flood elevation and public flood documents.
Elevation certificates
Existing certificates may be searchable in the portal, which can save the cost of a new one, or you can ask the Building, Planning and Zoning Department at (954) 602-3281.
Damage records
The portal shows past improvements and damage records, which helps you see whether planned repairs could approach the substantial improvement threshold.
The city is also preparing a Floodplain Management Plan, has published a draft flood risk assessment, and holds a Class 8 Community Rating System rating, worth a 10 percent flood insurance discount in special flood hazard areas.
